Hey everyone! I hope your Labor Day weekend was good. It always means end of summer for me, and I love the coming of autumn and the changes. I am not heat boy; bring on the falling leaves, the cocoa, school and sweater weather. But first a few days of sun and cool - enough to get the yard put away. I guess we'll finish the patio next year ( Read more... )

I thought an audio CD was only 74 (or for recordables, 80) minutes; this translates to 1 hour and 14 (or 20) minutes. (Unless you use a data cd with FLAC files, or something like that)

Regarding my listening habits: I don't have a standalone cd player (never got around to buying one) so I always play cds on the (a) computer. Therefore I have always avoided buying "copy-protected" cds, since they it is really "play-prevention". Usually I take the opportunity to rip the cd to Ogg/Vorbis files.

Fascinating idea! I too love transitions (and genuflect to KB when I listen to The 9th Wave) and concept albums, but recognize the young'uns ain't necessarily buying/listening that way. It seems a shame, but there it is. Doing "A" and "B" versions (if you will) sounds like a good way to make both "types" happy.

Hmm, re: Why not release the album recorded as "singles" without the transitions AND include the whole album as one track WITH the transitions? - the only issue I see (besides how it's all gonna fit - someone else also commented about the 80 min max on a CD, but I figure you know whassup w/such stuff more than I do) is that this'd preclude putting the whole disc in and hitting SHUFFLE since one track'd be the entire album w/transitions rather than spaces. Dunno if'n (or how much) this really matters though.

Very cool re: having the section w/the soul-bearing stuff available. This sorta thing interests me a LOT, as I find the whole artistic/creative process fascinating and more than a little compelling.

Best wishes w/all this...and everything. Hope to see you 'gain before long. :-)
