Long story short... apologies are made for things spoken in duress, grievances are aired and dealt with, fires are put out and as always, life goes on.
Here's a recap. I found out this past weekend in Jacksonville that the people in Personnel Support did everything they were supposed to do with regards to my advance travel claim request. They showed me in their system that my paperwork went in on the 3rd of June, and was forwarded along with the other three in my group on the 5th. They were submitted a second time on the 22nd, when my skipper called them wanting to know why the hell his people didn't have their money.
As it turns out, it was the civilians that actually process all the travel claims who lost or ignored or sat on our paperwork, or whatever. Apparently this is an ongoing problem with these people. Either way, the paperwork is in now and marked Urgent so I should have it soon. I finally got my actual paycheck for the drill time (a much smaller amount) as well, but I got it a week after I was supposed to which caused my rent check to bounce. It all snowballed from there, causing this whole hooplah that I've been stressing over.
There's a couple details that still need working out but for the most part I think things are smoothed over. In an odd sort of way, I'm almost glad this happened. It resulted in a sit-down-let's-talk with my roommates that's been a long time coming, and gave me a chance to get some things off my chest to them as well as making me aware of some things I've been doing wrong that I intend to fix. As funny as it sounds to say, that's always a good thing. Better sooner than later, or never.
You know what they say. That which does not kill me...
