it creeps through the roots to the trunk to the branches the leaves fall effortlessly to the ground sporadically
coveting the vast black plain of cement it creeps through
the shattered windows the rusted pipes the clumps
of black hair suffocating the bathtub drains
it creeps through the stuffed animals strewn about the field that slightly resemble
skulls and their gaping grins of whit it creeps through piles of frozen smiles
yellowing at the edges the glass
that framed them broken by the hand slowly ticking it creeps
through cardboard boxes spilling over soiled spoiled clothing
the film rewinds itself revealingbewildering
until the chemicals trickle down that placid pearl surface
