This place doesn't really seem that easy to get the hang of. At least, at first glance. How long have been here -- if you don't mind me asking?

Just a couple days. When I said 'kinda new', what I really meant seriously new.

That certain sounds like a plan. I think I could use all the help I can get. I do have a couple friends here from home -- which is nice, don't get me wrong -- but every little bit helps, right?

Right. And it's about time I started makin' new friends, anyways.

[she is totally not offended and she makes an affirmative noise]

We can friends if you'd like, Miss Sookie Stackhouse. I'd be totally down with that. You know -- has anyone ever told you that's a doozie of a name? Cause I think it's pretty friggin great.

[ A thoughtful pause. ]

Bon Temps sounds French. Louisiana? Like, bayou country? I come from New York City. The Big Apple.

A doozie. [A laugh] It's been a while since I've heard that one. And just Sookie is fine. Miss makes me feel old. What's yours?

Louisiana's right. But I've never been outside the state before. What's New York like?

Alright. Sookie, then. Something about the accent makes me feel like I should be more proper -- do you get that a lot? Oh, and I'm Teddy. Teddy Altman. S'nice to meet you.

New York is [ He looks for a word, but sort of fails and ends up with just: ] big. Lots of people. Like a whole lot. Which is nice cause then you always get to see and experience new things. But is also kind of not nice, since it's so easy to get lost in the crowd and superhard to make friends. Kind of like this place.

You miss Louisiana at all?

Not really. People back home ain't so inclined to be all that proper.

Louisiana is...safe, I guess. Everybody knows each other, and nothin' changes all that easily. But New York seems nice. Different, I guess.

Really? Then again, I've never been. Just know what I've seen in movies and stuff -- southern gentlemen and all that. Don't tell me they don't really exist. I might disappointed.

New York is definitely different. But not everybody's thing, you know? Too loud, too rowdy, not personable enough, a lot of times not safe. Safe can be good sometimes, other times it can probably be a little stifling. What do you think?

They exist. Well, Bill was one. He was pretty old fashioned, though. But I'm sorry for dissappointin' you, anyways.

Safe is just fine, but I've always wanted to travel. Get away from Louisiana a bit. But every year you stay you just get more and more stuck.

No need to apologize. I mean, things like movies and tv always seem to get things sort of right, but never all the way. Do you have other friends from home around here? Or was it just the two of you?

Does being here count as travel? I can see how it kind of does and kind of doesn't at the same time.
