But the 'knock four times' thing killed me. I may have been bawling at that point. Brilliant. And was there actually anyone out there unaffected by Bernard Cribbins crying? He should have turned out to be something really uber-kickass, like...oh god, I don't know, lost founder of Venusian Aikido?
But this episode is full of ridiculousness too - and I hatedhatedhated the way Donna got her memories back and then ZAP suddenly didn't. Or did I get it wrong? I must have done, because otherwise WHAT WAS THE POINT OF ALL THAT?
And the ep *did* drag on to epic proportions - which ruined the end further for me. And wasn't the end just plain daft? Sure, lottery ticket, that's waaaay inventive. Oods singing? Give me a break. And going back to see Pre-Doctor!Rose was just such a typical fanfiction device. Grr.
David Tennant does somehow manage to bring it all off. And he was brilliant (and that is not mere fangirl-ation). Very genuinely affecting. (Yes, I did immediately start coming up with crazy TenLives! theories, mostly involving wax dummies and a handy Mega-Vortex-Leaper-er-XX, but that is beside the point)
I am confused as to why Tennant (seemingly voluntarily) calls Davies 'the Shakespeare of this generation'. David, love you much, but you do talk such utter crap sometimes.
And what about Mickey's beard? Has anyone mentioned that yet? I personally thought that was fairly major. But that's just me.
