Okay, so.. Happy Birthday To Me.
I'm very disappointed that I'm leaving today. On my birthday, to be seasick! Now that I've said so, I'm done. It won't be long before I shake these last vestiges of selfishness and realize that my Father, the one who gave me the most thoughtful gifts of all, will have only two weeks on his boat this summer. His new drug has brought about promotion, long business trips, an extra helping of Workload and significantly less Free Radical time this summer. (In the event that you didn't know, our boat is named Free Radical. Me da is the biggest Scientist ever.) This is his week and I won't spoil it for him, I promise.
Yesterday was a Good Day, albeit more rushed than it should have rightly been. LaurenMuffin gave me the most wonderful card and charm bracelet EVAR. 'Tis beautiful and thoughtful and I figured out how to make it fit! And almond joys, which didn't last long. Trust me. Mairin gave me a ring; I love rings! And Sean gave me a tiara, because I am a sexy princess. I love them. I only got to spend about an hour with The Brunts, my favouritest extended family ever. I was sad to leave, and no one was Drunken by the time I did but I promised Carolyn that I'd pick her up at 3:30 .. I got terribly lost and picked her up at 3:45 instead. (And Branford is skeevy!)
She couldn't make it, which I'm very sad about. But Carolyn's presence made my family's picnic significantly less boring. Actually, the entire evening turned into a gigantic game of frisbee with Kaylee and Jeremy and Gill and Danny and MattS and lots of people that I Kind Of Know. And then s'mores. And then Chels(ea) in time for fireworks. Jeremy an I spent the entire fireworks display "Wishes! Imagination! Friendship! Togetherness!"
.. Yeah.
I drove Carolyn, Chels(ea) and Gill home in the wrong lane out of the surfclub with the windows down and doublethink as high as it would go. I feel it was our duty as teenagers. And I'm never quite so obnoxious so I indulged. We found ourselves in the left lane alongside Mr. Dumbrowski in the right, who gestured that we should Turn It Up! But it wouldn't go any higher. We Raced him out of the surf club (never going up 0 mph, according to my speedometer) and won.
Oh, and the best news of all: I'm getting a cell phone! I'm terribly excited. Now I'll almost be sub par to the slutty twelve year olds with their own cell phones and cars and .. syphilis. Considering my mother, though, I'll have to buy the actual cell phone.. She'll just add me to her plan. But still! Cell phone! She also bought me the gourgeous ring from the ArtsCenter that I wanted. I have a feeling that Julienne and Sylvie had a lot to do with that, but I kind of don't care. Actually, it's better, because it's like a gift from them that my Mother paid for.
Da got me photo paper, a stainless steel reel and tank for developing negatives and a tripod, declaring "You're a real photographer now!" I am so excited, because that was so thoughtful of him.. But at the same time I wish he hadn't gotten me anything. I can't believe he spent so much on me. Though I know perfectly well that he did it because Photography is the thing that we share.
So yes. And now I'm waiting for Chels(ea) to come over because she said she would visit me on my birthday before I go, and that my present was something that she wasn't able to bring to the beach last night. I asked her if it was going to be a pony and she said Yes. I'm so excited, because I've wanted one since I was, like, four! I will name him Snuffulus. (Say it out loud.) In honor of Madison.
Goodbye, Goodbye, I kind of wish I had a cell phone right now
So I could talk to you all while I'm away.
But I don't! So I'll talk to you all when I return.
