Torchwood Recs

I've been sitting on all of these links for ages, time to finally shove them out into the world!

Had I The Heavens, by lorannah
PG-13; mostly gen; a six-part serial
Adam’s stupid, but he has a talent that Captain John can use. Finally this is a way he can get back into the hub...

Set just post-Adam, watching this story unfold over the past month or so has been all kinds of fun - it was wrapped up just before 'Exit Wounds', but complements the new canon we got from that very nicely indeed if you ask me. This is a plotty, fast-paced and intelligent read, with really excellent characterisation and story-telling all round. I love the way lorannah fleshes out minor characters and she's done a fantastic job with both Adam and John in this piece. Gripping, exciting, and ultimately really rather moving, I love this. While it certainly is mostly gen, the Jack/Ianto subplot here absolutely owns me. The link takes you through to the first installment, and it is well worth your time.

50 sentences for 1sentence

Firstly, I love the 1 sentence genre - when it's done right it's a fantastic medium of talking about a relationship or a character in a multitude of different ways. Covering every vagary of emotion you could imagine, this collection beautifully much sums up why I have a massive secret thing for this ship. After all, this is Torchwood, basically everything is canon.

Right & Wrong, a.k.a.: 'Five Reasons Why Captain Jack Harkness Is Possibly The Worst Bloke In The Universe That Ianto Could Have Chosen To Hook Up With (And One Reason Why He's Damn Brilliant)', by tavven
R; Jack/Ianto
The sex is a-ma-zing. It's the other stuff that makes Ianto wonder precisely why he is shagging his boss.

This is highly entertaining in places, thoughtful and insightful in others. tavven has an excellent grip on the characters and really brings out all the complexities of the relationship - the way in which it works, and the ways in which it doesn't. Also, this made me flail like an idiot by the end, which is always a plus.

Among the porcelain, among some talk of you and me, by scribblinlenore
R; Jack/Ianto
Jack and Ianto drink tea together. Past and present.

This broke me. Beautifully done. Ack - oh, just read it.
