Hypothesis (the you can go home again remix)
Stargate Atlantis ; John/Rodney, Jennifer/Rodney ; PG-13 ; 2500 words
And the thing is, he's busy, they're all busy and so it's horribly easy for months to pass without Rodney even thinking to drop John a line.

A remix of krabapple's Hypothesis. Many thanks to
secondsilk for the beta and support, and
glass_icarus for being an audience to my flailing.

Well, for the fourth year running I lucked out with a member of the flist! It was a pleasurable struggle to choose just one of krabapple's excellent stories to choose from, but in the end this one spoke to me the most - certainly, it was fairly easy territory for the classic Remix move of writing the story from the other POV.

What was interesting on this occasion is that as I was writing, I realised that I wanted to make some changes to the events of the story, which I haven't done before. The way the original ends works brilliantly in the context of that story, but I realised that it wasn't the way I'd tell it. Which is, after all, part of the point of Remix. I was nervous for a while about that, as though I'd be disrespecting the original author's vision, but in the end I'm happy with how it turned out.
