Sorry to hear that the job that had such promise turned sour but happy to hear that you've got yourself situated with a new job that suits your needs. I hope to hear that you'll be one of the lucky ones to continue holding a job.

It seems that everyone & every company is cutting back and all but the very well off have to adjust to that.

I'll look forward to hearing how things are going for all of you and particularly when you start back to school and coursework.

*hugs*

a large percentage of our work is about to disappear due to government health changes (no more pap smears, just HPV tests). That is likely to leave half my profession without work within 3 years. Many are holding out for retirement and redundancies, but that's not enough to stop forced redundancies.

I'm looking forward to school again, and studying something new, but complementary to my work history.

Why would pap smears be eliminated? Does the government think it's cheaper to treat cervical cancer than do a pap smear or that finding HPV infections will lead to 100% prevention?

The stats show that HPV tests are more effective at detecting cervical changes than Pap smears. And yes, it will be a lot cheaper. Medicine is an ever changing world, and they are putting their money into new more efficient technologies

I'm sorry about the upheaval in your life but it seems that you are in a good place now. There will be challenges and life may not always be perfect but you and your family will manage. Good luck to you and I'll be reading your posts with interest and I will be cheering you on.

Hi Steph waves' wow I knew of course about the job because it sadly affected me as I would not be seeing you as much anymore but the rest was a surprise. I do hope you are feeling emotionally well again 😊 Uni omg I am still not ready if ever to go down that rabbit hole again. At my age it is unlikely I will actually need to before Harry and I do the grey nomad thing. We are still trying to sell our coastal house however we have bought another small house that will do us as we downsize our lives and reduce our costs after my USA trip.

i miss Adelaide and our dinners. I'm great though... so very happy in my new job. It's a huge improvement from the stresses of sales.

Sorry to hear the VH house hasn't gone yet, but glad you have a place to call your own again. How long till USA? This year will be local holidays for me. We booked a winter break at Rottnest (home of the #quokkaselfie) and even that's a stretch on a student's budget (because study is expensive!)

not changing was even scarier in my case. I'm really looking forward to study, and just hope my employer remains supportive and flexible, and that I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. Time will tell. I'm hoping I can finish in 4 years.
