Crocodile Dundee, eat your heart out!
Something unexpected happened today. We discovered an Echidna walking alongside the major road near our house. Every neighbour who passed by stopped in surprise, because none of us knew we shared our neighbourhood with the little creatures.
After calling wildlife rescue, they advised me to move him from the roadside and to take him to the bush at the edge of our suburb.
So, not only did I see my first wild echidna, but I got to hold him too! He wasn't the easiest to pick up, but once I had him, he was very quiet. We left him burrowing into a pile of leaves in the forest at the end of the street.
