Long overdue New York post.

Jun 10, 2012 23:22

Long story short: I've not been in good place the past 6 months (maybe more) and I retreated. But I'm feeling better and now I'm back to give you part one of my long overdue account of my trip to NYC at the beginning of this year.

I imagine this whole story will unfold in four posts.
1) The Glee/Darren Criss fangirl post
2) The Broadway appreciation/ ( Read more... )

I'm glad you're feeling better and am looking forward to more adventures. I miss traveling for fan events (NY doesn't count), my last big one was cross-country to see Rufus Wainwright and that was a lot of fun. I need to find someone to fan-girl and then buy a plane ticket!

What is the Darren Criss Street Team? Why street?

When I saw the play, I was in the third row center and Daniel was swinging almost directly overhead at the beginning, I didn't know this was going to happen and was really surprised and thrilled by it.

Your picture of all the lights/billboards of Broadway is fabulous so much movement and color - better than the real thing. :)

Here's my photo of the billboard for you:

Nice shot! I had my Wide angle lens the night I tried to capture the same thing and I had to get WAY UP CLOSE to even get the writing to a decent readable size. I was very impressed with the lens though, new favourite !! Oh, my NYC tourist post will include me finally taking your advice from years ago and venturing into the foyer of the Chrysler Building - the lens did great work there!!!

"Street Team" is a group that tries to put word out on the street about a performer/group through promoting and supporting their work. It's a proactive fan club really.

I was 2nd row centre! I know that very moment, and it was kind of amazing! I contemplated timing the trip to see both Daniel and Darren, but flight availability made it impossible. I did see Alan Rickman though... did you?

I can't wait to see your NY pictures and I'm so glad you went into the lobby! I was just there recently to show it to someone for the first time.

Does the Street Team promote all actors or just some?

Oh, second row center - even better - you were looking up his knickers! If you had been able to do both, that would have been something - to compare performances, etc. In my audience, I had a sense of bouyancy, there was a lot of energy, Daniel was smiling from ear to ear, looking out eagerly as we applauded his dancing, we were all like proud mums. I really enjoyed it.

I did see Alan Rickman, third row aisle center so had a great view of everyone. I had a strange experience, I found myself missing Snape. I thought he overacted the part; he wasn't believable. I know he played it for laughs but I was put off by it. What did you think?
