I'm upset that it wasn't longer. :(

yeah, I know. But to see so many of the originals onstage together brought tears to my eyes. I'm a pretty new RENThead, but nostalgia gets me every time.

*hands over tissue* I didn't know, that the writer of RENT died on the day of the first public performance. How sad, that he could never experience the success of his creation.

And may I also add, that I had noooo idea, that Taye Diggs was/is one of the cast members? Outing myself as a complete musical dork right now. :) *facepalm*

You might be interested to read Anthony Rapp's memoir, "Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss and the Musical, Rent."

It's about the show, his life, his mother's battle with cancer, Jonathan Larsen's death. Rent is not the reason for the book, but it figures prominently.

Yeah, Taye & Idina met and married during Rent. Well, they may have married after leaving the show, I'm not sure. Too bad Jesse Martin wasn't there last night. I really like him in the show, too.

Thank you very much for the book rec.
Great, amazon sells it for 2,50€. Bought! =)

I know Taye from 'Ally McBeal' and 'Private Practice' and had no idea, that he did musicals as well.

he's in the movie version too... It's great, not as good as the whole stage experience, but then nothing beats that.

yep *nods* Though this dashes my hopes of seeing in on Broadway, I'm glad I got to see a production here last year.

This is from last night's Tony's right? (can't watch youtube at work)
I saw it, LOVED it and bawled my head off while clapping and singing along.
There are no words for how much I love this show! :)

Yeah, it's from the Tony's. I know the love... I share it too, I was bawling and smiling all at once. Lucky you, having got to see it before it closed.

I adore RENT. I don't do the Tony awards, so that was nice.
They should have just had the original cast though. To me, THEY ARE rent. No other cast has lived up to them in my opinion.

Thanks For Posting this...

I adore RENT too. I only discovered it a couple of years ago through the movie & the two soundtracks, but I have been fortunate enough to see a live production here in my home town. Seasons of Love tears me up at the best of times, but this performance was wonderful. Glad you enjoyed it too ♥
