Fun in the American Justice System

A few of you know this already, but here's the story for those of you who DON'T.

I was mugged one week ago. Well, I was ALMOST mugged one week ago. I say almost because I ..uhmm..hehehe...I broke my assailants arm and three of his ribs. He wasn't doing much mugging after that.

Here's where my fun times come in folks. Someone saw what was going down before I beat the piss outta my would-be attacker, and called the police, they show up to my would be attacker lying on the ground retching in pain. After they stop laughing, they tell me I'm not being arrested, but I may have to appear in court, and I may get a summons in the mail. Fucking wonderful, because I didn't have enough to worry about apparently. So, the next day I call my wonderful and terrific lawyer, at home, and tell him everything thats going down. He says that first thing Monday (this passed) he's going to talk to the DA and see if he can convince him not to filecharges. Simply by pointing out how absolutly silly it is to prosecute a single female for beating the crap out of a big burly man who was trying to attack her. Tee Hee....

So, I spend a while kinda sorta worrying about this, because if I get brought up on charges, ACS is gonna have even more shit to say to me, and I just don't need that right now. (And no, I don't wanna go into the bullshit going on with ACS right now. I haven't heard from them, and I'm going to call them monday to see if my case was fully closed).

So on Weds, I think it was, I get a call from my lawyer saying not to worry the DA has chosen not to file. I don't even have to go to court to testify against my would be attacker because he was found in possession of a weapon and that violates his parole. SO now he's in prison for another 10 years, with NO parole. Yay.

So, thats my fun in the American Justice System. Spiffy, no?
