Character: Lacus Clyne
Series/Fandom: Gundam SEED Destiny
Version: Original

Age: 18
Gender: Female
Species: Coordinator
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Marked: No
Living: Pending

Appearance: Lacus is a very feminine person. She has long, wavy pink hair with bangs and her eyes are a medium blue color. Her hair is usually worn down or pulled back in a ponytail, and always with a gold hair clip that looks like two curved shapes (the only time we see her wear a different hair clip is during episode 36 of Gundam SEED). Her skin is pale and her figure is petite.

Lacus is almost always composed. Rarely does she show true anger or sadness; she appears tranquil and calm under the most stressful situations and usually has a smile on her face.

As far as clothes go, Lacus prefers to wear dresses and skirts.

Personality: Lacus Clyne is an optimistic person. She is extremely caring, intuitive, and mature. Though she often doesn't show shock or surprise (she is very composed), she feels things very deeply. She is a cheerful person, and people naturally trust her.

Lacus is also very trusting towards others, and prefers to give people the benefit of the doubt. However she has an extreme sense of right and wrong and can often get preachy. She is strong in her beliefs, and doesn't sing for just pleasure -- her songs are the prayers of the people.

There are times when she has her doubts, but it doesn't take her long to pull herself together. She also tends to rush into things without thinking all of the details through.

Abilities/Strengths: Lacus is a Coordinator. A Coordinator is a genetically enhanced human. Though 'Naturals' (normal humans) created them, they began to envy and fear Coordinators because of their abilities.
A Coordinator is able to learn things much faster than a Natural. Their bodies are immune to pretty much all diseases.

Furthermore, Lacus also possesses the SEED factor (also known as the Superior Evolutionary Element Destined-factor). This allows a person to surpass their usual physical and mental capabilities, and you can tell someone has gone into SEED mode when their pupil shrinks and their iris grows. A person enters SEED mode when they are in extremely stressful situations, recalling something traumatic or have a need to protect someone or something. SEED mode can only be entered when a person is willing to commit themselves fully to a situation; they can have no doubt.

Lacus Clyne also possesses a beautiful voice, and is a famous songstress.

Some of her personal strengths include her sense of right and wrong, her compassionate nature and her ability to remain calm during stressful situations.

Weaknesses: Since Lacus is a Coordinator, she has no true physical weakness. However she sometimes acts reckless, making decisions without thinking them out thoroughly.

She is also a pacifist. Lacus always prefers to avoid fighting unless it is absolutely necessary.

History: Lacus Clyne was born the daughter of Siegel Clyne, a PLANT Supreme Council Chairman. She is a famous idol who is extremely popular, and is engaged to Athrun Zala, son of Patrick Zala. Patrick Zala is also a member of the PLANT Supreme Council and their engagement is mainly due to political reasons; they never really felt anything other than friendship towards the other.

When she is on a civilian ship making it's way to the ruins Junius Seven the ship is attacked, and Lacus is sent out in a lifepod. The life pod is rescued and brought to the Archangel (an Earth Alliance ship), where she first meets Kira Yamato. Though they are supposed to be enemies Lacus treats everyone kindly and is amazingly calm. Fllay Allster didn't trust her, though, and holds her at gunpoint on the bridge of the ship, threatening to kill her if ZAFT doesn't stop their attack on her father's ship. While on board she gets a chance to comfort Kira and speak with him further. She finds out he is Athrun's friend, and doesn't believe that holding her as a hostage is right.

Kira sneaks Lacus out of the ship and returns her to Athrun. Lacus is sad that the two best friends are on opposing sides. Later when talking with Athrun, she says that she is "fond" of Kira.

After Kira is injured in a particularly bad battle Reverend Malchio finds him and brings him to Lacus' home, where she nurses him back to health. They grow closer there. When Kira declares he wants to return to battle in order to save his friends, Lacus gives him a ZAFT uniform, shows him how to act like a ZAFT soldier, and gives him the keys to a brand new Gundam: the ZGMF-X10A Freedom. Before he leaves she gives him a kiss on the cheek, letting him know she supports him, and also cares for him deeply.

With this action, Lacus is declared a traitor. The Clyne Faction is formed: supporting neither just Coordinators or Naturals, but with the intentions of bringing about peace. When her father, Siegel Clyne, is killed by Patrick Zala's soldiers she goes into hiding.

Angered by what she is doing, Athrun tracks her down. She helps Athrun to see what is truly right, leading him back on the right path once more. When soldiers find them and try to assassinate her, she escapes with the help of him and members of the Clyne Faction.

With the help of Andrew Waltfeld she steals the ship The Eternal and forms the Three Ships Alliance along with the Orb ship the Kusanagi and the Earth Alliance ship The Archangel. All three are dedicated to stopping the war and bringing about peace.

Inevitably Lacus meets Kira again, and she tells him of her father's death. For the first time we see her a bit unsure of herself, and Lacus allows herself a moment to cry in his arms. Later on Lacus comforts Kira when he discovers what he truly is (the Ultimate Coordinator), and confesses how happy he has made her.

She admits her love for him by giving him a ring, asking him to promise that he will return to her safely. Kira responds by giving her a kiss on the cheek.

During the final battle, Lacus goes into SEED mode. She also tries to persuade both sides to stop firing weapons of mass destruction, but sadly fails.

TWO YEARS LATER (In Gundam SEED Destiny)

Lacus has been living with Kira at an orphanage. When her life is threatened they are forced to reunite with old allies to stop a new war.

Meanwhile a young woman named Meer Campbell undergoes surgery to look exactly like Lacus Clyne. She is used to keep the ZAFT troops morale up, since the real Lacus does not support ZAFT at the moment.

Lacus hijacks a shuttle to go into space along with Andrew Waltfeld to check out the situation at the PLANTs. Ironically, to do this she poses as Meer, who is posing as herself. However they are discovered, and try to flee with two new mobile suits for Athrun and Kira. They are attacked, but Kira and Andrew Waltfeld fight them off.

Kira and Lacus greet each other happily again before Lacus shows him his new mobile suit. However she looks troubled. She then takes Athrun's new mobile suit to him herself, and has a talk with him.

When Meer (the fake Lacus) interrupts Cagalli's television broadcast, Lacus reveals her presence -- and the lie. She scolds the people who are the cause for the war, and everyone is thrown into confusion over who is the "real" Lacus.

It is Lacus and Kira who reveal the "Destiny" plan to the crew of the Archangel. The Destiny Plan would have every person assigned genes that would dictate what they would be like, therefore taking away their ability to decide their own future.

After an attack on PLANT she goes to the Moon with Meyrin, Athrun and Kira for some information gathering. There they are contacted by Meer. It is obviously a trap, but Lacus decides to meet her anyways.

Though Lacus does manage to get through to Meer on how she was used, Meer ends up getting shot while protecting Lacus, and dies in her arms. This is very painful for her. When they return to the Archangel for a small, private funeral, they discover Meer's diary, and Lacus spends some time crying. When she faces Durandal again, the man behind everything, she looks at him with stark rage.

Lacus leads the forces against Durandal, but many still believe she is a fake and attack. After the war ends and Durandal dies, Lacus is invited back to the PLANTs as a mediator.
