yes kiddies (that is a joke of course, I really dislike the term kiddies!), I am once again dutifully supplying this site with more musings.
alright, I know the subject line says quotations, yet it does not preclude the use of lyrics too for today.
The life I touch for good or ill will touch another life, and that in turn another, until who knows where the trembling stops or in what far place my touch will be felt. Frederick Buechner
Love seeks one thing only: the good of the one loved. It leaves all the other secondary effects to take care of themselves. Love, therefore, is its own reward. Thomas Merton
It is in the ordinary duties and labors of life that the Christian can and should develop his spiritual union with God. Merton
The biggest human temptation is to settle for too little. Merton
Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone - we find it with another. again from Merton (he really knew how to say a lot in a few words)
Merton was influenced by the writings of John Donne. Ernest Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls quotes Donne also.
Here is a Donne quotation from Meditation XVII. All mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, a chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language.
this reminds me of the Scripture, 1st John 3:2. Beloved we are children of God; and it has not been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
I guess we are so impatient to get to our future, that we often are living the present on the cheap. we should live in the moment.
a contribution from Rascal Flatts now: and if you're faced with a choice and you have to choose, I hope you choose the one that means the most to you...My wish for you is that this life becomes all you want it to, your dreams stay big, your worries stay small, you never need to carry more than you can hold... Oh you find God's grace in every mistake and always give more than you take.
to me that sounds almost like an Irish blessing ala May the road rise to meet you...
from Find my Way by POD, a lyric: I want you to believe in me. See through my eyes and you will know. I'll take my chance that you will come home to me...
a key thing is believing in others. if we as individuals could only stop being quite so self-centered.
