Voyage de la Chinoise Part 4 of 4: Zhou Village

May 27, 2004 04:20

A different concept for the Venice of the Orient.

Just 30km from Suzhou lies the quaint Zhou Village 周庄. Walking along the cobbled streets, taking in the sights of the quaint stalls selling local cruisine (yes, there is a pic of pork trotters hiding somewhere!) such as sesame biscuits and pork trotters, watching the boats plying gracefully through the canals. I felt serenity although there were so many others around (this, inevitably is a popular tourist spot). The canals are not just for show, they are actually functional, u could take a boat from the market to the backyard of your house, climb a flight of stairs and voila! u are in your kitchen ready to make dinner... you HAVE to click the link to see what i mean... i won't mind retiring here, thats for sure

Check this out. The boat can bring u right to your doorstep, or if u prefer, the back door as well. Climb up the stairs and u will be home. The rich will definitely have a boat (or more) for family transportation..... Uber cool!!

(On another note)
Eureka and the death of Entrepreneurism

This trip abroad has definitely awed me in more ways than one. It has also reaffirmed my love for travel. I know I'm now doing a degree that would lead me to a one way highway to a desk bound office job, but i wonder whether would this be what i really want. It would stifle everything... creativity, love, interest, enthusiasm. Try being enthusiastic doing what i do, ploughing through pages and pages of convulated language. I won't mind if it was not so impersonal, but but but...

A brief moment of eureka, seeing two helpless tourists looking puzzled

An entrepreneur-ial burst of idea, identifying an unfilled niche

Discussions over teh-tarik, loopholes and problems surface

Makes me wonder whether am i all ideas and no action. I have the drive, but do i have the GUTS?? (Plus, surfing the net threw up endless legislation -i need a license!- and disappointments =it has already been done by someone else!=, and =fine for unauthorised personell= Well, u can hit a brick wall, and turn back, or u can climb over the wall. Maybe there is a way around it, but i just have not figured it out

This means something, but i'm not sure as yet.
