Didn't tell y'all about some big ol' truck trying to KEEL me last weekend. I had decided to run to the grocery store fairly late Sat. evening because I'd been working around the house, forgot to have dinner, and about 9:00 I was ravenous so I jumped in the car to go pick up a sushi box at the Kroger downtown. On my way back home I was driving up Front Street and realized the Arts Festival was going on just ahead, so I should just hop on the highway and avoid all that street traffic, also making a mental note to be careful making the turn onto the street that leads to the on-ramp because there could be pedestrians wandering across the middle of the block. So I slowed way down as I approached the intersection... and just as I started to make my turn a truck came blasting through the red light. And not like, oh, the light just turned and he was late thru the intersection - the light had *been* red his way at least since I had been halfway down the block, he just didn't see it. My heart was pounding, and I don't think he even slowed down or realized he'd just nearly run me over. Ack. Stupid drivers. I have near-misses like that more often than is reasonable, IMO. Is it because I attract driver stupidity, or because I go around presuming people will be thoughtful while piloting a large hunk of metal (and plastic) on wheels and that's a false premise?

I am off work tomorrow and tomorrow evening my family is coming to pick me up and take me on a mini-vacation. We're going back to The Wilds to see the aminals. And maybe eat pie (there is a tradition of seeking out excellent homemade pie every time my sister and I go on one of our weekend jaunts. The last pie discovery was not so successful, tho', so we're overdue for good pie.)
