This 'N That
I survived the short week of working days, attending Better People Leadership. It was good for me to be around the ole place o' business during the regular work day and to see people I haven't seen in a long time. I found the course to be very interesting; there is a strong component of psychology that runs through these types of courses, and I have always been fascinated by psychology. And it occurs to me that people pay large sums of money to attend classes such as the one I have just been fortunate enough to enjoy.
See? It did me good. The boss said it would. Damn him. I hate it when he's right.
I also got up and did my hair and make up every day, which I haven't done in years and years and years. That also did me good, I'm sure.
This weekend we'll be delivering the license plates for the car to Daughter (and thereby visiting with the Beetle). I also have an appointment tomorrow for my annual pedicure and haircut at the spa ... I'm going to try waxing for the first time, too - get rid of the peach fuzz on my cheeks and see what I think of it. I am doing this pampering as a preparation for (drumroll) Summer Vacation 2013®!
Yes, on Friday the 5th I will fly off to spend a week with some beloved friends. I hope to get some writing done and to cleanse my palate and refill my serenity bucket (with a helping of inspiration, please!).
For that reason, I won't be posting chapters for two weeks. Yeah, I know. It's not going to derail anyone's life or anything.
In other news, ofic is at about 20,000 words. As usual (eyeroll) I'm struggling with my backstory. I know how f*cked up my characters are; now I just have to provide them with pasts to justify it. No prob, right? (This is where that fascination with psychology can come in handy). I've taken two cracks at it and SubHub has rejected 'em both. I've got to quit leaning so hard to one side and try to find the subtle path. Sigh.
So, wish me well on flipping my schedule back to sleeping days and working nights, just in time to go on vacation and need to flip again.
