I found out some interesting things at the cardiologist yesterday. First, I apparently have a "leaky valve." This means that one of my valves is not closing completely, and in the words of the doctor, "spurts extra blood." Apparently, unless I have other complications, this isn't anything to be too concerned about at this time. I also apparently have an extra beat when my heart rate increases, which he said explains the fluttering that I feel when I exercise. He indicated that lots of people have this, and again, it's not something that I should really be worried about.
What he was concerned about, however, was that my blood pressure got up to 190/110 as my heart rate increased with exercise. The moral of that story? Lose weight. He said that my doctor will consider putting me on blood pressure medication, but if we are doing the Optifast thing, it may not be necessary. So, now I wait and see... my doctor is supposed to call me by Monday.
All in all, nothing major to worry about. Today is the last day of solid food for Mark and I. We pick up our "products" at our first group meeting this afternoon. This weekend should be interesting...
