I didn't realize that it had been almost 2 months since I last updated, but time has flown. Work has been crazy, leaving little time for real life. Given that we're back to real food, the moments of real life have been gobbled up by cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, and even a little time with friends.
Mark and I are officially done with "the program." To date, he's lost nearly 125 lbs and I've lost about 75 lbs. He's about done with his weight loss, but I am continuing to lose. Last week at Emory they tested our resting metabolic rates to determine how many calories per day we should each have to lose vs. maintain weight. It turns out that I was just about right with my 1350 - 1400 calories to continue losing, with 1700 being the magical point for maintenance. Mark, on the other hand can eat a whopping 2700 calories and still expect to lose weight! The magic number for his maintenance is 3200. All of these numbers assume the same levels of physical activity that we have today meaning we need to continue working out, cardio, tennis, yoga, et al to expect the numbers to hold true.
All in all, both of us are very happy with this experience and have completely changed our lifestyles when it comes to eating and exercise. I have to run back to work, so I'll share more later on these new ventures...
