I wrote a little post the other day about something that happened when I was filling in as a window clerk at the post office where I work, but it sounded petty even though I only meant it to be amusing. I try hard to be both efficient and good humored, I hate it mysef when a snippy salesclerk ruins my day, but some days it's not easy, especially when I have to get up at 1:30 am and work like a maniac before I fill in on the window....
Anyways...(links to pics scattered throughout)
Last weekend my friend and I took advantage of the empty apartment in Brooklyn and visited the city....
This time we
Drove through Times Square and downtown madly trying to avoid rush hour to get passes for the Met from his daughter at work...
Chilled at the apartment and had Indian food delivered to the door! Fun!
Got up and had fresh made bagels with cream cheese and coffee...only $4.40 for two people
Rode the subway to the Met...I love riding the subway and people watching! I have never felt unsafe there. (Helps to have a big guy with you)
Wandered around the
with no pressure, since we got in for free. Took pics of a wonderful
window and an Elizabethan
and
, they appealed to my romantic-historical-novel side.
Ate pretzels and fed sparrows in Central Park...the daffodils were out
Walked down
and just enjoyed the sights, headed back for Brooklyn before rush hour started.
Walked around the neighborhood and enjoyed all the ethnic stores.
Ordered in Brooklyn thin crust margharita pizza! Yum!
Saturday
Bagel place again...we love this place, even though it looks like such a dive, (I have a
of it on Flickr) My friends' son-in-law sees one of the guys from the Sopranos in there a lot
Subway again to Macy's. M wanted a certain color tie, I had nothing I needed, so I had fun exploring the store. I love their rickety old wooden escalators, and rode them up all nine floors!
Art Brown pen store, where I splurged on a Sailor fountain pen and some graph paper pads.
He checked out Orvis for fishing flies.
Subway to Soho for fresh
...never had them before, but we had both read a great book called 'The Big Oyster' about NYC and had to have some. I liked them, they taste fresh, like the ocean!
Walking and window shopping all through the Village...one of my favorite parts of visiting NYC...
