i actually wrote this.
it came without a warning,
without a sign to drive us out.
we should've listened to the prophetic words
that came out of our own mouths.
an irregularity
that all the best scientists missed
that would change the fate of everyone
and bid them to resist.
but a tidal wave is coming,
the only protection that we've got
is the wall of invincibility
that we built in our hearts.
but a constant pressure beat against
the levi on the shore.
the sea devised a quick attack
and the levi bore a hole.
and we're tired
of trying to rebuild.
and if we can't sing,
we can't tell you how we feel.
there's no rescue team,
we can save ourselves
but its hard to think that clearly
when you think for someone else.
we saw the waves eat up the islands
that nature built across its path.
and as we stood in awe
before we knew of our own home's collapse.
now you're left with only driftwood
to attempt to rebuild your walls,
i've got my new house made out of cedar
that survived the ocean's storm.
and we're all void of compassion,
left to die with time to spend,
but we wouldn't spend a dime now
on who we used to call friends.
now we're stranded
with a growing understanding in our hands
and the knowledge gained too late,
that a house divided cannot stand.
