May you have an amazing and cake-filled day, ladies.
I actually managed to see Mamma Mia! tonight. Very short unspoilery thoughts:
- Christine Baranski is one of the most fabulous women on the planet, but this is not news.
- Why oh why didn't they cast ANY male actors that could actually sing?? Even remotely?? Sky was okay I guess, but even he wasn't, like, great. Characterwise I get the casting of Colin, Pierce and I guess Stellan Skarsgård, who wasn't as bad as the other two, but didn't it occur to anyone that it may be useful to cast someone who can sing without making glass burst IN THE MALE LEADS OF A MUSICAL????
- The ladies, however, were all fantastic. Seeing Amanda Seyfried like that makes me wish there had been a VM musical episode or sth.
- All in all, this was just as fun and adorable as I thought it would be, though I wish the singing hadn't been quite as cringeworthy sometimes.
- This has nothing to do with the movie, but they had the air conditioning cranked up so high that it was fucking freezing in the theater. I was actually shivering and rubbing my arms at several times. wtf?
Now I'll try and get some sleep before leaving for Hannover tomorrow, whee.
I leave you with two things that are awesome:
