'are you all incredibly stoned?'

So, Starz live streamed CoE2 last night.  No, I did not watch it; I read a couple of online summaries of what happened, and I am currently absorbing one tidbit....

So.  Oswald is a former teacher, as well as a child rapist/murderer.  But, the ludicrous plot device everyone is supposed to swallow is that he's set free after the lethal injection does ( Read more... )

Sweet Jesus. You called it months ago. The Pedo is a teacher.

Just when I thought I couldn't have any more contempt for Rusty, along comes this little twist. Why, I wonder, wasn't the Pedo a writer, or a tv hack? I have a suggestion: Rusty should hire Gov Scott Walker as a consultant the next time around to really finish the job off.

No, I don't think the Pedo would walk. His sentence would be commuted to life beyond bars which is pretty damned spectacular, given he's immortal.

Maybe hiring an actual attorney for legal advice couldn't be budgeted in because of all the money spent on masks for 'spontaneous' flash mobs. /sarcasm

I guess what's got me in such a froth over this is that Rusty's been blatting about how he's giving everyone a lesson in "real life"--as with CoE, which was supposed to enlighten those of us who are privileged that there are Bad Situations on earth....(*eye roll*).....

And, here in the first five minutes of CoE2, is something so far outside any reality. Once again, Rusty gives the viewer the comic book version of legal proceedings.

Complete lack of knowledge about any judicial system, never mind the US one.

Also--sorry, no: the homicidal pedo would not become a media celebrity. US citizens would rip the pedo to shreds, at the very least.

A key point for Rusty to consider: OJ Simpson...Casey Anthony...They weren't convicted of murder. They're still despised, though, even without that conviction.

Rusty's trying to tell us that the US would accept a convicted, Death Row inmate--a teacher who raped and murdered a child--would be regarded as a celebrity.

How out of touch is Rusty? Cluelessness + ego = absurdity. And you're right: he uses the excuse of science fiction as his crutch for not bothering figuring out how anything actually works--from planetary gravitational fields to the US legal system.

Oh, good Lord have mercy!

It's bad enough that cold-blooded killers do walk free thanks to clueless Juries who think they might get a "do-over" if they give a throw-away verdict (yes, Casey Anthony is driving me nuts!).

But "after" a lethal injection? No, for heaven's sake, no.

Just a little research - 5 minutes on Google - would have told these people that there have been botched or failed executions, but the only thing that happens is they fix the problem and proceed. They don't give someone a second chance as a celebrity from Death Row.

This is the school of writing that relies solely on "wouldn't it be cool if....?" So--suddenly nobody can die; therefore an execution fails....and therefore the convict becomes free and a celebrity.....? Oh, no. The latter part is simply Rusty's hammering home his point that all human beings are disgusting. And he makes it so by twisting reality into complete make believe--yet you know there have to be people out there who are just lapping this drivel up.

Here's hoping the conclusion of CoE2, which is bound to have a high body count, includes Oswald's dropping dead.
