Big article in the St. Pete Times this morning on CoE2....Very much emphasizing the American flavor of the show--no need to know anything about TW, because it's all brand new "to keep U. S. audiences interested."

The author (Eric Deggans) of the article thinks Barrowman is the lead in the show (insert *laugh* here) and  identifies Jack as "an American, immortal ex-con from the future"; "In Torchwood, producers had  a hero who already was a Yank."  The plot about not dying "might help turn Torchwood:  Miracle Day into the best example of a Brit-to-American TV transplant since Steve Carell helped comedy fans forget Ricky Gervais while anchoring NBC's version of The Office"; "this is an idea just big enough to blow up a cult British series into a swaggering American epic....More than a tasy treat for BBC nerds.  Oh, and among the reasons cited for why CoE2 "works where other British TV translations don't"....."Despite the sci-fi concept, the first episodes feel like an espionage thriller."

Soooo....I guess anyone who's believing Rusty's claims that the show maintains its Welsh flavor had better brace for a shock: the verdict of this American reporter is that this is very much an American TV show....and pretty much following the formula of Blow Shit Up.  In other words, Rusty's promise that the show recalls its roots is as valid as his pre-CoE promises that Tosh and Owen would be remembered and that Jack/Ianto fans would be pleased. *guffaw*

Ah, well.  The upcoming DH 2 at least seems to be showing signs of some promise.  I have a little hope there about something worth watching.  A little.
