it's summer, it's ice cream

the weather reminds me of the scent of grass drying under the sun. the trees outside of the window smell warm. summer has settled in with its sun and thunderstorms; i feel exactly the same as that.

i was brought into the receiving room yesterday to find each manager standing solemnly. "bad news" informed our fearless leader, "no one bid on us". i think of my and everyone else's entire life of borders and try not to tear up like a five year old dropping ice cream on the ground. as it melted, i stood there and i frowned, blinking upward to stall tears. i then said with great thought and feeling, "that sucks."

it's not just unemployment, it's everyone's unemployment. i felt it all hit me like that ice cream smacking the ground, an empty stupid cone looking back up at me, and what can a five year old do with an empty cone but cry about it
