I actually had to stand up reading this first time around ...well, I didn't have to. But, the tension worked me into a bit of a state right from the start.
LOVE the descriptor of Marlo's personality being like steel wool - because that summed up what I haven't been able to put my finger on, lol! (also the non-petted cat behaviour....hahahahahaha you crack me up).
Also...WHY is it that Andy McNally can't buy a clue re Sam Swarek? (Of course she has no effing idea that they've broken up).
All those descriptions of Andy's shattered and tired heart were just fabulous, but they killed my own heart, you know? Especially this one: 'Three months of wishing the stiches that held her heart together didn’t dissolve every couple of days (or hours - sometimes just minutes).' :(
And "yes sir" ...is about the point where I start reading through some spaces I left between my fingers (my hand is covering my face)...
AND OF COURSE SHE FRIGGIN MISSES HIS RANT TO CRUZ. OF FRIGGIN COURSE. THESE TWO ARE ORBITING THE SUN AT THE SAME RATE - EXCEPT ON OPPOSITE FUCKING SIDES ALL THE TIME.
The kid was trying to be a good brother and Sam can respect the sentiment: HEART-CLENCHER THANKYOU.
AND PISSY ANDY....WOOOOOOOT... (Maniacal grin will not leave my face even though you start bashing me over the head again with the fact that her heart was still a mess and...ugh).
hahaha and Sam is done for with how hotly furious McNally is...I can picture him SO WELL tugging her into the interview room. (So well in fact I nearly climbed on top of a table to cheer him on...) (btw 'Sam can hardly stand to look at her' --- in the middle of all that stuff about her gorgeous, furious beauty, is possibly the greatest line I've ever read).
And then she get's all flushed in the instant he touches her because wouldn't we all --and it's at this point my heart rate is about to go through the roof because I am fully expecting somebody is going to shove somebody hard against the wall and....well...there is going to be a lot of shoving going on...
and Sam's 'McNally' and I diediedie because I can hear ittttttt
AND THEN EVERYTHING AFTER IT AND I JUST FUCKING CRIED AND I CAN'T ANYMORE.
WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE??????
SCREW THE FACT THAT THE WHOLE SCENE IS BEAUTIFUL ....YOU CAN'T JUST LEAVE IT THERE.... BECAUSE I'VE RE-READ THE THING 5 TIMES NOW AND I NEED THIS PENT UP EMOTION TO GO SOMEWHERE SOMEHOW.
PLEASE.
BECAUSE HE'S READY. I KNOW IT. YOU KNOW IT. NOW DO IT. PLEASE.
I CAN'T TAKE ANY MORE. ANDY CAN'T TAKE ANYMORE.
