Staring into the darkening room, hockey game a forgotten blur of blue and red jerseys, Sam focused in on the four nail pops in the ceiling above the TV. They’d been there since he moved in almost ten years ago, but somehow they looked different to him now, as if they somehow should be healing themselves like the line of skin where the bullet, and ( Read more... )

All it took was McNally's text. Just the thought of her being so far from him but needing to feel a little bit of closeness. Needing him to know she was thinking of him. Yes...idiot!

As Shay said, the nail pops...genius (yes I'll give you genius before the RB writers ;) He totally knows exactly what he needs to do, all he needs to do. But he still puts it off, resists. We may need to start a thesaurus for Sam Swarek - idiot, moron, doughhead (has anyone else's parents ever used that one?)

Interesting group of misfit toys you picked for Christmas Eves supper. Guess Golly didn't want to weather the Apeckolypse and Dov...he probably jumped at the chance.

Celery, though, was the best I think. I could totally see her doing this and believing this (because it's true). She calls it like she sees it. Sam knows that he loves Andy and that love is so powerful, stronger than anything, but his fear is holding him back.

And then he's alone...and that is so powerful because he's feeling it more and more now...what's missing. But the best part is that he's not alone, not really, because she's still there waiting and her text is there to tell him that. OPEN YOUR EYES SAM!

Love how he tortures himself with some snarky reply but then his mind immediately follows it up/counteracts it with his true thoughts. He misses her and loves her.

Great ending and perfectly illustrates what this whole story is about - he's doing this to himself! Choosing to inflict an unnecessary pain.

Sam, Sam, Sam....
