The P and J club meeting

Had our munch board meeting tonight... I wasn't called out for causing hate and discontent specifically, but it was put into the minutes that we shouldn't be causing drama...

Hackles were raised when we brought up the fact that there is no need for the board to meet twice a month... We're a smallish group (20-30 regularly attending members) with no property or equipment.  When I was a scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts, we owned a building, several thousands of dollars in equipment, and had a monthly  campout, but we still only met about twice a quarter...  However, we (the new board members) were being called lazy for not wanting to meet twice a month (on top of the two munch meetings we have).  Supposedly, the two meeting requirement for the board to meet is written into the munch bylaws, and when we suggested that bylaws can be changed, all havoc broke loose.

"We can't change the bylaws because we put too much blood, sweat and tears writing them, and the group as a whole really approved of the idea of the board meeting twice a month...."  To which I call bullshit; most of the group don't care what the board does, only that there is coffee and cake at the meetings.

I should have been more aggressive in standing up to the various stupidities aired tonight, but I'm conflict adverse, and I'm still getting a lay of the land... But as Lady M predicted (and 2 other board members independently  observed) P  will not give up any power of the munch, even though she is a non voting member of the board she is still manipulating things with her husband Z and her friend J  to get her way.  Two of the new board members want to quit, but I convinced them to give it a bit more time... I don't want to be the lone voice of sanity on the board, but if we really aren't in charge, why bother?  If they leave, I'll probably follow them soon after.

munch, drama
