Nothing irks me more than people who go on holiday and then spend the entire time posting on facebook! So when I go anywhere (and I dont go far) I take photos but try to spend time enjoying the holiday and looking around me rather than staring at my phone. I do post the photos but try to do so in groups of three, and ones that kind of match. I didnt take as many on this trip.
The purpose of the trip was to cheer up my friend Jason because he has been so ill, last year I took him to Stevie Nicks, he is on a pension and can never afford things like concerts. In the lat 8 weeks he lost his best mate of many years, and his dog had cnacer and he had to have her put down. he was so distraught, so I rang and said "We are going to see Cher!". he was very excited but then landed in the hospital with pneumonia. I honestly thought by the time of the concert he wouldnt be here, but he rallied, and I saw him really rise from the depths of despair back to his usual unbeatable self. Cher was great, really, some kind of super human not like the rest of us.
People either have short memories or just no actual intellectual curiosity. I had to explain to someone that she was the first celebrity to get a tattoo, and what a big deal that was, and I wonder how many people are even aware she has an academy award for best actress.
I really enjoyed wandering around although I was limited because of my foot (still waiting on my next surgery) so where I might have wanted to go two or three places each day I'd go to one and then have to go home. The light in Sydney doesn't exist anywhere else in the world, and the warm breezes and just doing simple things like eating thai food outdoors was just what I wanted. I dont like fancy eating or expensive restaurants! Not my thing. Getting a $10 laksa from the food court in Chinatown made me feel right at home once again (accomodation always costs me more than I spend each day on anything else). I swear I could smell the harbour the entire time and even the birdlife is noisy and spectacular and ominpresent. Staying in Potts Point, next door to and an exact replica of my old apartment was really surreal and as if no time had passed at all.
