Wild card;
First of all - the format of the wildcard this year was spectacular. It made for great TV. The decisions, not so much. But I think the whole picking 6 of the 14 and letting them reprise any song they've done already to remind the judges how good they are was entertaining to the Nth degree. That being said, here's who I liked...

Kendra (Georgia on My Mind) - 8.3/10
I will admit that I leapt off the couch when they picked Kendra. I thought it was a long shot, but when they gave her a chance, I expected her to blow the roof off the place. And she did. Of the six they picked, I feel her nerves were the least visible. She did everything she could but it wasn't enough. I'll never understand it.

Naima (For All We Know) - 6.4/10
I like Naima, but I was almost certain she end up being a wildcard pick. I thought her song was a far better showcase of her vocals (though a little sharp in parts) than Summertime was and I wasn't mad that she ended up snagging Steven's choice as it was pretty predictable and semi-well deserved. I'm looking forward to seeing what she does in the coming weeks.

Ashton (And I Am Telling You) - 4.7/10
Ashton was not the third girl I would have picked to sing for the wildcard round (see: Lauren Turner). She was also not on the top of her game with her redux of And I Am Telling You. She had trouble maintaining pitch throughout, even she delivered it with more fire than her performance the previous night. I do, however, think she has potential. So I hope that she lives up to it and proves my thusfar lukewarm impression of her wrong.

Stefano (I Need You Now) - 4.4/10
Another predictable pick based on his original performance. I think his wildcard performance wasn't quite what I was hoping for. Whereas Naima and Ashton proved they had the potential to do better, which was kind of the intention of this round, he proved that he can do different, but not necessary better. In fact, I preferred his take on the Bruno Mars song over this, vocally and entertainment wise.

Robbie - (Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word) 3.2/10
Predictable, but boring once again. Robbie's a talented kid, no doubt. But once again he proves that the judges should have waited an extra year or two to let him onto the big stage.

Jovany - 1.8/10
First of all, what the hell? Why in hell did the judges pick Jovany? It should have been Tim or Brett, both of whom I have no doubt would not only have sung well, but snagged themselves a spot in the Top 13. Which is probably why they didn't pick them. Either way, Jovany gave another melba toast performance. He's a good looking guy, seems nice enough, but when it comes down to it, there is absolute zero superstar potential to him. Pick better songs for your voice.

Anyway, that's my review. Let me know what you thought.
