Isn't it funny what we allow people to see, what part of ourselves we broadcast to the world? If others were able to see you in full light, ala Truman Show, with all the close ups and all the missed moments, all the private minutes we believe we have......what would they see?
I think we see each other in glimpses, through an infinite number of glass lenses lined up against each other which disrupt our focus and misdirect our fixation point. We see all the things that sound cool to the person we are observing because that is how they want to be viewed.
There are a designated few who live those cool lives anyways so they don't have much to hide from the world, but it seems like people have SO many layers to peel away once you meet them. You learn so many nuances each day you spend in their presence. It is also so hard to project ones self with such a detailed cache of dynamic personable qualities, that someone with such a kick ass lifestyle will still give something to ponder each new day even though you thought you knew everything you were getting.
And too, I believe that people feel these elements of life they project outwardly are a large portion of who they are and that they will probably tend to downplay the boring and or lack-luster parts of their psychology because the former just opens up more possibilities for you.
I wonder what this post says about me.......
