Rise Against and The Bouncing Souls!
Nothing better than a good ol' punk show.
"One day, I hope we find the difference between
liberation and occupation."
"When enough is enough, that's when
you know you're halfway there."
"We all fall down,
and we get right back up again!"
"
If love is a labor I'll slave til the end"
Seeing Rise Against and the Bouncing Souls sell out the Fillmore proved
to me that there are still people out there who still know what true
punk rock is all about. About getting smashed by a righteous crowd
surfer. Shouldered with spikes. Punched in the face. Shoved in the pit.
Singing along with the band and the crowd. The lead singer from the
Bouncing Souls saw me singing in the 2nd row and jumped down from the
stage and put the mic in between us to sing the chorus. He shook my
hand before jumping back on stage to finish the set. A true punk
legend, coming to connect with a dedicated fan: to me, that is love for
music. Here's one of the songs that helped start my love for punk all
those years ago, rockin out to punk rock in my dad's basement at 3 a.m.
with my step brother.
"True Believers" by the Bouncing Souls
I've met some people along the way,
Some of them split some of them stay,
Some of them walk some walk on by,
I've got a few friends I'll love till I die
From all of these people I try to learn,
Some of them shine some of them burn,
Some of them rise some of them fall,
For good or bad I've known them all
We live our life in our own way,
Never really listened to what they say,
The kind of faith that doesn't fade away
We are the true believers
We are the true believers
Well you can fight or you can run,
Hide under a rock till the war is won,
Play it safe and don't make a sound,
But not us we won't back down
True believers all the way,
You and I...
We live our life in our own way,
Never really listened to what they say,
The kind of faith that doesn't fade away
We are the true believers
We are the true believers
True believers
