O. M. G. Kramer is a racist.
For the last two days, I haven't heard enough about Michael Richards "racist tirade" at some comedy club in California. Apparently, two African-American hecklers were talking shit from the back of the club, when Richards started dropping the "n-bomb" like it was on a Black Friday sale (sorry for the current event humor, but I'm caught up in the spirit of the season). Anyway, I'm sure many of you have seen the video by now, and know about the racial prejudice that was let out that night.
Well, I would like to say a few things, even though I have the risk of being blacklisted by the internet and anyone who reads this.
1) The people in the crowd were egging him on. While it was obvious he was caught up in the moment and obviously wasn't prepared to react, the people in the crowd were no better than he was. They were shouting at him and swearing, calling him a "motherfucking cracker". Well, alright, I know that the "n-word" has quite a negative history around it, but how is nobody is talking about the racism being sent back towards Richards? I'm not saying these people are in the same position as Richards, but have a little self-respect. I guarantee you that if the moment was not captured on tape, that we would never be told that the crowd had people calling him out.
2) The people in the crowd were egging him on. Unfortunately,, we did not get to hear what sent Richards into his tirade. What we do hear? The crowd laughing as he continues spewing racist comments. It would be one thing if once he started saying many racists comments, that the audience would be gasping at what they are hearing. Or if they started booing his comments. But now, they continued to laugh. It sure is surprising that many people can talk about what a racist he is, but the majority of people didn't stop laughing until a very loud man in the crowd made a stink about the situation and stood up to draw attention to himself.
I'm not saying that Kramer was right, but for everyone in the media to call him a racist and act like they are the most perfect non-racist there is, well...fuck them.
