Apartment attained!

I signed the lease tonight! So now I do indeed have a place to move to after my current lease expires.

Although really, it's more like BEFORE the current lease expires, because this technically has a May 1 start date and my current place has a May 31 move out date. I need to start moving my stuff before that, but it's a matter of figuring out the logistics. I don't think my current landlord would be too chuffed about me actually, physically moving out prior to the end of the month, particularly since they don't have a replacement tenant yet. I could in theory move everything and just keep like a box to store the amount of clothes I need until the end of the month, but the issue is my bed. I need to move my rug (or buy a new rug for the new place, which might happen because the new room is larger so I might need a larger rug. Plus my current rug was a super cheap rug from Target lol) so that furniture can go on top of it at the new place. The bed came with caster wheels so I could just put those back on (currently it's on risers, which shouldn't really cause any damage to the wood floor, but one wants to be careful about these things), but taking the bed apart and stufff will be a pain. And then, I'd have to find a way to move it at the end of the month, with no car or anything. My parents are visiting me this weekend, so they can help me move things then, but at the end of the month they're leaving on a trip. And a boxspring for a twin bed isn't something that's easy to transport. Like I might have to rent a U-haul...the bed is only two years old so it'd be stupid to get a new one. I might be able to get a few friends in the area to help me move it, but I'd still need a way to actually transport the boxspring. I'm planning to buy a new dresser (my current one was left behind by a previous roommate and is kind of shitty), so I don't need to move that. Basically it wouldn't be a problem to live in a mostly-empty room for like two weeks, but working it all out will be a hassle lol. Plus I can't move my like, cooking stuff until I'm actually leaving...that could all go in one box though. Like I could move all of the non-essentials.

Probably the simplest way will be to move the bed into the kitchen, get the rug up, put the bed back, and move everything else but the dresser to the new place. Then just keep the bed, enough clothes to get to the end of the month, basic dishware, shoes, etc. that I need on a daily basis. Then at the end of the month I'll have to like...rent a U-haul to bring the boxspring to the new place. The problem would be driving the U-haul, since I've never driven that type of vehicle and haven't driven at all in literal years, but it's a very short distance. Or I could recruit a local pal to drive. Ugh, moving the bed is the only thing that'll really be a pain, Everything else is relatively small, since my only furniture is like...a tiny bookcase, a lamp, and a chair. Everything else can just be packed up in boxes. Bluh moving is so complicated.

But still things are good! Although it'll be kind of a scramble to get everything sorted out, the new place is set and in a few weeks I'll be living there, which hopefully will be good! It'll be way closer to my workplace, at least.

Other than that...this week will be packed regardless because I'm on like three upcoming data collections that I won't get back from until pretty late (like 8-9pm late). So this will be a tiring week. Hopefully the weather will stop being terrible, it's been cold and rainy all week and it's making me super sleepy.

Also I finished Camp NaNo! It was down to the last day...mostly because I didn't write for the first half of the month or so...well, I was super unmotivated all month. I...wrote another 25k words of Pokemon Conquest fanfiction. It is a sickness, I cannot stop lol. And now I ended up checking out two books on feudal Japan from my university library...at least my weird video game obsessions are sometimes educational?

That's pretty much the haps...I feel much more relaxed than last week, although I still wouldn't say I'm in top shape. It's manageable though.
