NAME: Zero Kiryuu
RACE: Vampire Hunter/ Vampire (formerly human)
AGE: 18
CANON POINT: Chapter 75

GENDER: Male. I'd say he's just a big ball of testosterone and a stereotypical boy, except he rarely finds himself sexually attracted to others.
APPEARANCE: Standing approximately 5'10" and with a frame of lean and very toned muscles, pale skin, steely lavender eyes and shaggy silver-gray hair that hangs into his eyes, Zero's physical attributes are unusual and easily draw attention to him as he's known to be quite attractive yet produces an aura that keeps others away from him. Due to his transformation into a vampire, Zero received a charm when he was thirteen from the Vampire Hunter Association that helped enable the suppression of the vampiric urges he was experiencing at the time. This charm was in the form of a large anti-vampire tattoo that covered the majority of the left side of his neck, not an easy thing to hide. His younger housemate was shocked by the appearance of the tattoo, unaware of his condition or what the tattoo was needed for, she labeled him a delinquent and was upset by his new 'accessory'. It is possible that Zero chose to take that delinquent status and use it to his advantage later, instead of attempting to hide the tattoo. Since the beginning of the series, Zero has chosen several silver earrings for his multiple piercings, including a snake that appears to wrap around his ear through two holes in his right ear and a multiple piercing bridge across the top of his left ear through the cartilage. Though he's always been a prefect while attending Kurosu Academy, he's never worn his uniform to regulation. He often leaves the top button of the shirt, his vest, his jacket and his tie undone, which gives him a more deceptively relaxed appearance.
PERSONALITY & HOUSE REQUESTS:
Zero is full of a lot of contradictions and as such could likely fall into any of the four houses. I am choosing Hufflepuff as primary and Ravenclaw as secondary.

Hufflepuff is the most inclusive among the four houses, valuing hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play rather than a particular aptitude in its members. Students belonging to this house are known to be hard-working, friendly, loyal, and rather impartial. It may be that due to their values, Hufflepuffs are not as competitive as the other houses, or are more modest about their accomplishments. ~Quotes from the Hufflepuff page of the Harry Potter Wikia

Zero Kiryuu is an 18 year old workaholic. Currently in canon, he is attending school with the Day Class, shadowing the President of the Hunter's Association in order to learn the job for when he takes it over upon graduation, does his normal hunting duties at night and has also taken on the added position of playing 'prefect' for the night class vampires and ensuring everything goes smoothly at school. He rarely has time to sleep and had to be ordered to take a vacation and got yelled at for returning early from it. To say that Zero is a hard worker is an understatement. He literally works himself to exhaustion.

Zero is actually considered a genius, which is the reason he would fit into Ravenclaw. Unlike some of the other characters in the series though, it seems to be something of a secondary trait of his. Zero is very modest about his intelligence and abilities, preferring to blend in with everyone else instead of stand out as the protege he actually is. This likely has something to do with his childhood and his twin brother Ichiru. The guilt Zero feels for 'stealing' the powers that rightfully belonged to Ichiru when they were in utero which resulted in his brother being born sickly and unable to be cured by human means resulted in Zero attempting to blend in instead of standing out of the crowd in everything he does.

Ravenclaw tend to prize intelligence and education a lot more than Zero does though. Zero attempted to drop out of school at 14 and was blackmailed into returning at 15, so he only succeeded in dropping out for a year and is a year older than his classmates which is why he's still attending high school at 18. He's also only attending now because his bosses (who not only run the school but both act as fathers and mentors to him) have ordered him to complete high school before they will let him take over the position of President from them. He skips class often, so he can catch up on his sleep and when he does attend class--he often sleeps through it anyway. Yet he is consistently the highest scorer on the tests and doesn't study for them at all.

Though he is a genius and protege both academically and athletically, it is due to this severe modesty of his that I believe makes him a better fit for Hufflepuff. He isn't the type that chooses to participate in group activities and prefers to be alone, but he excels at everything he picks up. For instance, he'd be an amazing Quidditch player but he would never play unless someone realized the potential he had and forced him to do it. If he was convinced to play, he would likely dominate at whatever position he was placed in due to the unnatural athleticism he was born with as well as the benefit of his vampire traits as well.

Zero does possess several other Hufflepuff traits from time to time, the problem is sometimes he has problems remaining impartial and his loyalty wavers given the circumstances. Zero has had very tragic and traumatic experiences that have left him with some personal contradictions. As a child, Zero questioned why they killed vampires and his brother Ichiru even questioned if Zero would be able to succeed in his duties as a hunter because of his kindness. After everything that has happened to him, it's obvious he no longer has any issues with that. In fact, Zero is feared and known among vampire society for his ability and coldheartedness in dealing with vampires and his unparalleled abilities to take on vampires of any level which is extremely rare. He's actually become quite prejudiced against them, especially purebloods, over the years.

Zero can be extremely loyal though, willing to given his very life to Yuuki and living only for her sake at one time during the series. The same Yuuki who he now constantly threatens to kill after she was returned to her true form of a pureblood vampire. Still, he's saved her life several times, is shown to miss her presence and treats her differently from the rest of the purebloods--no matter how much he denies it and turns around and threatens her life to emotionally shove her away after she attempts to reconnect with him.

In order to survive, Zero has forced himself to see the world in black and white. There is good and bad. He genuinely sees himself as protecting humanity and desires for no one to ever experience the same things he has had to experience, to be used as a tool in a game between pureblood vampires. His experiences have clouded his judgement but he attempts to play by the rules, only following orders and never acting outside the boundaries that have been set for him. His way of choosing to play the game is by biding his time and waiting...he's patient and waiting for the order that allows him to act. He's has goals but lacks ambition to achieve them, choosing rather to let things happen naturally instead of making movements himself. To him, this is fair--a lot more fair than the choices he was ever given that got him to this point. In reality, Zero is likely extremely emotionally unstable, yet refuses to allow anyone close enough to see how damaged he really is and does an amazing job hiding his every emotion from the world.

COMMUTER DETAILS: Untapped.

POSITION: Student

ORIENTATION: Zero is straight. Almost seemingly asexual, he doesn't seem to find himself attracted to others often. He's too focused on his duties and distracted by his own bleak future to think about that sort of thing. The only exception for this is Yuuki, he has obvious feelings of a romantic sort for her in the past and this very likely continues into today as he's pretty much attempted to kiss her, confessed his feelings toward her and kissed her immediately before she left to begin her life with Kaname.

ABILITIES & POWERS:Zero was born a Vampire Hunter, which is a genetic trait passed down through the bloodline. Due to the circumstances of his birth, Zero stole most of his twin's abilities as well, making him a very powerful hunter at even a young age. These powers include the ability to detect vampires, slightly elevated healing abilities, the ability to wield anti-vampire weapons and place anti-vampire barriers.

Zero began his training at a young age, providing him with the skills and knowledge to utilize various weapons ranging from swords, staffs, hand to hand combat and firearms. He is an especially talented sharpshooter, holding the ability to cut a straight line in a piece of paper by lining up his bullet holes one by one.

By becoming the very thing his people hunted, one might think it would become problematic for Zero and make things more difficult for him. Emotionally, yes, it has been a struggle for him for many reasons but one thing Zero has difficulty admitting is the fact that becoming a vampire has huge assets in terms of his powers. He was a powerful hunter to begin with, but his vampire powers have only strengthened his abilities. Adding inhuman strength, speed, hearing, smell and the power to use vampire hunting weapons at full strength.

The combination of the two has created a very powerful and unusual being that the boundaries of powers are untried and unknown. Zero is a hunter who can do things hunters can't do and a vampire who can do things vampires can't do. But both seem to compliment each other and make him something entirely of his own.

Add in the fact that he devoured the blood of his brother to complete the fragmentation of the hunters curse as well as received blood from Kaname Kuran and drank from Yuuki for months before she returned to her pureblood state--the power-up he was given was quite substantial and he is now arguably the most powerful character in the series with the ability to resist the pureblood compulsion and take down a pureblood. He is the only character that is not a pureblood vampire that has been shown capable of destroying glass by his mere emotions going out of control.

WAND: Blackthorn, 10 inches, rigid and unyielding with a vampire heart string as a core. Zero’s weapon Bloody Rose is one of the original weapons created by the sacrifice of one of the pureblood ancestors in order to give humans a way to fight back against the pureblood vampires that were using them to amass slave armies for their personal battles. Only descendants of those first hunters have the ability to wield these weapons and Bloody Rose seems to be somewhat sentient in part due to it being created when the ancestor threw her heart into the furnace. The weapon can be used as a powerful handgun but when used by someone with great strength, such as Zero, has the ability to produce steel vines from it's wielder which devour it's victims as well as feeds off its wielder for power. Technically, the wand would have the same core as Yuuki's Artemis because they both contain the heart of the same pureblood.

WRITING SAMPLESFIRST PERSON:
[As if waking in an unfamiliar room, surrounded by strange people wasn't something disturbing enough for Zero. He had never been the type to take to change very easily, especially when he didn't have much control over it. Finding himself in a new school in a new world, recruited by someone for their own battle without concern or thought for the situation he left behind in his own world wasn't exactly a promising introduction to someone as dutiful and devoted to his own cause as Zero tended to be.

Nothing could have prepared him for the shock of what he'd discovered while going through the chest of items near his bed though. The moment his fingers had wrapped around the wood, he'd known. Glaring at the object, completely foreign in appearance yet familiar to the touch, he'd just stared at it in disgust for several minutes before picking up the communicator and turning it on.]

I can handle being dragged into a new world and forced to attend a school I've never heard of before. I may not be thrilled with the idea of joining the forces of a complete stranger in a battle that isn't my own, but that's something I can deal with.

This is something else though. [Zero lifts the slim piece of wood for everyone to see. His eyes narrowed dangerously, cold and angry as he addressed everyone over the communicator.] Bloody Rose is not something that should be tampered with without my permission. I demand it be returned to its original form to serve my purpose for it.

THIRD PERSON:
'You have to be kidding me.' The staircases moved in this place. This was the first major annoyance he uncovered in his exploration of the castle, but it wouldn't be the last. Never knowing when and where the stairs would shift was trying his patience, though anyone that came across him would never suspect he was having trouble managing his emotions; his steely eyes didn't give away anything. He moved through the castle based off instincts alone, so finding himself moving in the opposite direction than he'd originally intended to move was a frustration.

Zero was blessed to be born with a natural athleticism that set him above others, something he didn't often exhibit in public settings. He was also intelligent and could quickly adapt to situations out of sheer determination. There was a gentle nagging within his body and in his head, an awareness he couldn't explain to anyone even if he was able to do put the sensations in words, which he couldn't. There was a vampire nearby, he could feel it moving further away from him as the stairs moved beneath his feet.

His eyes narrowed with concentration, lavender gaze tracking the movement of the stairs surrounding him, predicting the shifting of them. Gracefully, like a lion leaping toward it's prey, Zero sprung off the stairs without fear to free fall through the air, dropping nearly two stories before sticking a nearly perfect land on a set of stairs he'd obviously been aiming for. If anyone noticed, he didn't pay them any attention as he began to climb up the set of stairs in the direction he'd originally been heading.

He'd found two of the dorm entrances so far and had been making mental notes on the presence of any vampires he'd found. He had found a couple of them but hadn't identified them yet as they were tucked away in their dorms. Each step brought him closer to another vampire presence, unconsciously rubbing the ache that had suddenly developed on the forearm of his right arm.

The sight of the third dorm building came into view, but he was still an entire staircase away and unable to get close enough to discover which dorm he'd found. Fingers digging into the flesh on his wrist, Zero's heart skipped a single beat before speeding up slightly. The presence of this vampire was very familiar and he didn't need to see what the vampire looked like to identify it. The very blood in his body was making the identity of this particular vampire clear.

'She's the only one.' Fingers clenching into fists tightly at his sides, the awareness of her presence was enough to distract him from his goal of attempting to identify how many vampires were currently at Hogwarts. He wasn't the only one from home here. They'd brought her too.
