Oh, and have I mentioned I'm seriously going crazy with all this homework? I have five classes this semister, Swimming (beginner), Freshman Chemistry II, Mathematical Methods of Physics, Modern Physics, and Astronomy I.
Swimming is swimming. Learning elementry backstroke and freestyle. Monday Wednesday class only. Had "tests" (quizzes) the first five or six weeks, but after being done with those, the class is a breeze and no class on Fridays so I get to sleep an extra hour.
Chemistry II...well, made an 85 on the first test and a 40 (I think...) on the second. Given, he replaces the lowest grad with the final, and in Chem I I made 50,40,70,90, Final and made a B in the class, so hopefully I'll get this stuff too. The homework is annoying, but not as annoying as the LABS!!! Gaaaawwwwddd! The Chem labs drive me nuts!
Math methods...this class is annoying. The instructor...isn't the best ever (though I've had worse.) The class is like three semisters worth of stuff compressed into one (on Monday we did what a Diff Eq class would take two to three weeks on...JUST that 50 minute lecture.) It's almost like we're expected to have already taken all those other classes, but if we had, we wouldn't be in this one! Diff Eq isn't even a prerequsite!! And the homework...geeze. Not to mention the tests are NASTY. Only one or two students have finished before he called time so far in both our tests.
Modern physics...compared to math methods, it's easy. The wave function stuff is a little tough, but nothing compared to MM. If I wasn't taking math methods this semister, I'd have an A in this class easy instead of the C to B that I'm looking at... -_-
Astronomy is easy. I know MOST of the stuff she goes over. I probably should have taken Astrophycis, but I guess I could use the easy A. The lab, on the other hand, sucks. The projects take between one and three hours to do, mostly involve writing, coloring, and taping. That said, it's easy stuff and we turned in the last assignment this week. All we have is the constellation point out quiz in two weeks, which I should be able to handle.
So, basically, I'm looking at an A in swim class and astro, a C or D (GOD I hope I can pull the C so I don't have to take it again) in math methods, and A, B, or C in chem 2 and modern physics. Basically, math methods and modern in the same semister (and with chem 2) was probably not the best of ideas. Math methods is enough that several of my classmates have said it should count 4-12 semister hours (3-4 semesters) instead of 3 hours (1 semister w/out lab), and the incessant homrwork takes up most of my nights, specially the MM homework which is harder, longer, and more time consuming than the chem and modern combined.
With three classes that ask for homework, most of my weeknights and much of my weekends are taken up with that. God help me if I tried to have a job this semister (which was my original plan...) Seriously, I'm starting to wonder if I can take this stuff without my mind going out or crazy on me. It's like they designed college to drive students insane and those that survived without going mad are given degrees... -_-
