mmm, tea and honey..
struck by the random desire to update my journal at 10.45 on a seemingly lovely wednesday morning. seemingly because from inside it looks splendid outside, but we just got hit with a typical new olreans scattered shower that lasts for two minutes and leaves the air hot and sticky. gross. regardles, i'm an air conditioned gypsy, sitting in my room peering out over the quad. i should be working on my listening assignment for to-morrow (anyone have any idea as to how beethoven's fifth is a cyclic symphony besides the short-short-short-long motif and the use of C major? no?), but i prefer to procrastinate.
despite the sticky rain, new orleans really is lovely, especially now that the weather has cooled a bit. i've never been so interested in weather patterns before; i'm so eager for fall to finally come and for the leaves to turn golden-brown and drift away. there's a great big tree, i think a maple, right outside of my window whose leaves have been gradually shifting from a bright, almost neon green to a golden brown. it gets my hopes up that any day from now i'll be able to walk out-doors with a scarf and jacket and not look seasonally-challenged.
i think i may be coming back to baton rouge on monday? i haven't really decided yet.
that's all, i won't touch this for another month.
