SUE WILLIAMS
Born: 1956 in Redruth, Cornwall; trained: in the 1970s at Cardiff College of Art, 1985-87 MA in Fine Art at Cardiff Institute of Higher Education; has her studio in Cardiff; member of the 56 Group Wales since 1988, and since 1996 visual arts board member of the Arts Council in Wales.
"Throughout my work, the investigation of drawing proves to be an immediate and easily resourced medium with which I can produce images. Thus drawing and mark making are of the utmost importance in my work. I have allowed to increase in potency the image of the figure as a subject, human emotions, body language and sign interpreted through action. I am looking at ideas concerning two figures in the arena of a canvas; figures as an event in space and time which enables a sensation of memory and thus allows imagination to function"
