SOME RANDOM UPDATES
In the past few months, I've kind of blown through a few canons that a lot of you guys on my flist frequently write about. These canons include:
- Supernatural. I watched all of S4 & 5, and parts of 1, 2, and 3. I had an unhealthy obsession with Castiel for a while.
- True Blood. I watched it on a whim. There is a lot of shit I could say about this show, but really, I think it's so terrible that I can't stop watching it. As a feminist I find the way it presents gender/race/sexuality to be extremely problematic, but this isn't a post for me to hash my gripes with the show.
- Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Okay, actually I'm the first one amongst my friends who actually watched this show and then pushed it upon a bunch of people and didn't write about it here though I meant to do so. ONE DAY I will make a Spartacus post with many pictures and video. This show is nitty, gritty, and filled with NAKED, SWORD-WIELDING GLADIATOR MEN WHO HAVE A LOT OF SEX AND THERE IS TONS OF NUDITY AND OTT VIOLENCE. Just my kind of thing! YEAHHH. Oh. And femmeslash & slash.
- Claymore. I actually got into Claymore sometime in January when jaquiel got me to read it. So I did. In like, 72 hours I read the entire damn thing. It was kind of nuts. I've been following it since and am really into it though I do have to catch up a little.
My most recent Big Fandom Canon that I've been following is... badump. Bleach.
Yeah, yeah, I know, I've said for a while that I wasn't really a big Bleach fan and couldn't get into it, but that was only because the first six episodes sucked. I started to randomly watch it (again, on a whim -- why does this shit always happen to me, I watched Naruto on a whim too!) and now I'm somehow up to episode 143. I skipped the Bount Arc and random filler episodes but man, I marathon like a boss.
I don't have the same kind of connection to the show that I have to Naruto. There isn't a Bleach character that makes me all OMG like there was in Naruto with Kakashi. I mean, sure, I like the characters just fine, and Yoruichi/Soi Fong is really hot, and Urahara reminds me of Kakashi, but I think I watch the show more for the crazy animation and explosions than I do because of some kind of connection to the canon.
Actually, I haven't found a canon that I have a real OMG connection to since Naruto. =_=; Which is kind of sad cuz I keep searching for something that inspires me the way Naruto does and lol. ;; IDK, I GUESS NINJAS ARE MY WEAKNESS?
Speaking of Naruto.
I kind of hate to say this, but I think I'm sort of over the Kakashi/Sasuke pairing. Yeah, I know. Crazy, right? I never thought it would happen because I was just so into them for so long. And well, to some extent I'll always like Kakashi/Sasuke but they really aren't my OTP anymore. This whole falling-out-of-love thing with this pairing... I'm not sure when it happened. Few months ago, I guess. I mean, don't get me wrong, I still really love seeing artwork of them and reading stuff with them and doing some KakaSasu-related type things, but it really isn't a passionate love for me anymore. I don't really have an OTP for Kakashi anymore. I suppose the closest would be KakaIru because I reaaaaally love shi_chan06's Iruka in kannagara_rpg. |D Ahh~
Anyway I guess that's pretty much it. I've been filling my life with a lot of really pointless shit like this because in a few months from now I will be reading something like 600 pages of literature and theory every week. And so. This is really my last chance to do any kind of major fandom-related type of thing.
