*gives up on Hurricane Katrina condolence post* See, this is why it's bad to design a hospital system that operates at peak capacity under normal conditions. I think only three people on my flist are really affected, but geeze, my heart goes out to you.
So. That

Tezuka's a straight-laced guy in a straight-laced relationship with a straighlaced girl: Hermione Granger. Two top students, they're the "perfect couple," the envy of the entire school. Secretly, however, Hermione longs for something more. When she meets bad-boy transfer student Sasuke, she reallzes what she's been missing -- excitement -- and decides to throw everything away for the chance to be with someone who makes her feel alive.
It's the first time Tezuka's ever lost. In his shock, he wonders if he's been living a lie until now. Was there ever any passion? Maybe he's secretly gay. One night of anonymous drunken (but surprisingly hot) sex seems to confirm this; but Tezuka, unwilling to disappoint his family, forces himself to resume heterosexual relations. He finds a girl who idolizes him -- my Mr. Perfect!, Misa says -- but the relationship is built on a lie. The depths of Misa's one-sided obsession begin to frighten him.
Just when it seems he and Misa will turn their unhappy relationship into an unhappy marriage, Tezuka runs into a classmate from his old middle school. Nostalgic for simpler times, he agrees to a tennis match. But he can't forget the horrors awaiting him and, unable to concentrate, loses badly.
"Buchou!" (I'm not anyone's captain, Tezuka thinks sadly. Not anymore.)
"Buchou! What kind of crap is that?! If you're not going to play like yourself, don't bother playing at all!"
Gasp! Tezuka realizes that is absolutely right. He leaves the court (and and irate Ryoma) without a word.
The very next day, invites the refined dark-haired man of his dreams to tea (the anonymous stranger having been a makeshift substitute for this, his One True Love). He and Akira live happily ever after.
SO YOU SEE. IT COULD TOTALLY WORK.
Oh yeah, and if I didn't mention this entire fic is set at Hogwarts.
