So the first vote for the equal rights marriage law was a farce. Next up: a sad show with all the conservative forces joining in hating equality and gays.
It's really weird that we're the last nordic country without an equal rights marriage law. We managed to be in the front line of women's rights movements over a hundred years ago, but now it feels like we're in the middle ages.
I don't like lots of things (alcohol and tobacco comes to mind) but I can decide not to drink or smoke or spend time with those who overindulge. The idea that an individual's opinions and the yuck factor are a valid reason behind legislation makes me sick.
Now it'll all be about religious rhetoric and talks about traditions. I'm sick and tired of narrow minded people hiding behind those two things instead of saying gay people scare them. God and 'but it's always been like this' are the two arguments that never fucking work for me, especially since the concept of a higher power has changed during the ages as have lots and lots of traditions, including the same sex marriage.
We're a sad group of narrow minded cowards, and today, I'm ashamed of my country.
