1. Went to see Star Trek Into Darkness yesterday. Was conflicted about the spoilers and wasn't sure I'd like it, mostly because I'm a very old school when it comes to Trek (or at least when it comes to certain aspects of Trek). The fact that I've been a total Kirk/Spock fangirl for 25 years or so doesn't really help...
I liked the 2009 movie, so thought I wouldn't totally hate this one. To my surprise, I didn't hate one single thing about the new movie. It worked as a movie and it worked as a continuation to the reboot world, and was glad they made some bold choices and stuck with them.
Minor spoiler, so
They did the reversal death scene at the end incredibly well. I'd read about the spoilers and was more or less meh, but it worked, and my idiotic K/S fangirl heart is very very happy indeed.
They also managed to spin that 'certain bad guy' so that he worked well in this universe. With no previous contact with the Enterprise, it wasn't personal, and you could almost feel for him. I hope there'll be fic about the Starfleet politics that led into this. Their brave new world isn't that brave or idealistic anymore.
2. I have been watching Person of Interest. It reminds me of certain shows from the 90's (there's a loft, there's a dog, government secrets...), except this one is more consistent with story and characterizations than most of the oldies. I have much love for Harold (apparently with most of the fandom), but John is awesome as well. Am glad I started watching now, 'cause it would have been a pain to wait for the next episodes, especially with the story arcs.
Instead of being completely predictable and squeeing about how slashy the show is (yes, it is), I'm going to go on with squeeing about how lovely the music of the show is. Love it so much!
3. We'll have a new Doctor? Oh, Teen Wolf started again? They finished Southland??? I'll just.... whatevs.
