Well, I must be doing something right with my aquarium because I've had an outbreak of snails. The trapdoor snails that I bought have slowly been reproducing. I've seen maybe three or four little ones, and I'm fine with them (I'm planning on selling them to my local fish store, if it gets to be too many). But those damn pond/bladder snails that hitchhiked in on some plants - I'm being overrun with them. I had two or three large ones that have now become millions of teenie ones. I pulled the egg clutches that I knew about, but I still ended up with tons of little dots all over the place. I've been crushing them all week. Every night when the lights turn on, I go add my fertilizers for the plants and then start the ritual crushing of a bunch of dots. I hate doing it, yet somehow it's sooooo satisfying. If I didn't have the shrimp, I'd get a dwarf puffer fish to take care of them (they like shrimp, too). I sure hope the shrimp are as busy reproducing as the snails.
