I like
Skoon cat litter, but it's just not working out for me. If it were just my little guy, it would be perfect! You scoop the poops daily and just stir the pebbles around so they soak up the urine more evenly. The pebbles are diatomatcious earth and take care of the smell pretty well, for an average pee. With just him, it would last me at least a month, if not longer. But my tabby pisses...a lot. (She always has, and at her recent vet visit her numbers were fine.) When I was using clumping litter, her pees were the size of a softball (whereas, Rasta's were the size of a walnut).
I just filled the boxes with a fresh order of Skoon on the 18th - and here it is, only a week and a half later, and the urine smell is already starting to linger. Like, I-can-smell-it-as-I'm-coming-up-the-stairs-linger. It's not a full-out stank yet, though. Percy's picky enough that she will avoid the box, if it gets to that point. I can't afford to change the boxes out every two weeks. Two 8-lb bags cost $44.95. That's just too expensive.
So, on the way home today, I'm going to pick up a 40lb bag of equine pellets for $5.99 and start transistioning them to that. Fingers crossed they will be okay with it!
