Shooked up

Well, its been a terrifying month.
The tremors haven't stopped after the M9.0 quake, and the problem about the nuclear power plant looks like its getting worse and worse. I wish the people whom have lost their homes and family strength at these hard times, and hope there will not be another disaster destroying the progress made so far.

Thank you for all of you out there expressing concern. I have had quite a number of emails and phonecalls inquiring if I am alright, yes, I am, my family is fine too.  My apartment got the worse of it - completely annihilated and I'm left with a big bill for re-purchasing appliances and have been sweeping glass, shifting the furniture, putting books, plates, towels etc back in place for at least a week.

In the city, milk and eggs have returned to the supermarket, although bottled water, batteries and strangely, fermented beans are still hard to come by. Tissue and toilet paper are back too - thank god for the toilet paper, that was a real close call for me. The city got wiped out of toilet paper for 2 weeks, and i was half way through my last roll
For those of you who don't know, Japan's drains are pretty slim, so you have to use proper toilet paper that melts in water. Use normal tissue or anything else, and everything gets bunged up, resulting in a very unhappy landlord and very rich plumber.

I suppose I'll write something later about the day of the quake, what I was doing etc just so I don't forget. That experience was a first that I don't want to repeat again.

quake, first
