Sudden Playoff Realization

Apr 22, 2008 20:31

So I'm checking NHL.com every few minutes to check the Flyers/Caps and I just kind of realized that I hope to the hockey gods that the Sharks can squeak out a win tonight. It'll probably come back and bite me on the ass, but I really, really, really don't want to play Colorado right now. I want the Red Wings and the Avs to spend a minimum of 6 games kicking the living hell out of each other like they did in the good ol' days. (Then again, I was also rooting for the Oilers to make the playoffs too...)

I'm not holding out a lot of hope b/c the Sharks made the mistake of letting the Flames believe they could kick their ass...and they did, several times. But, I can hope and pray that JR and the rest the minnows can douse the Flames with some home ice magic. And, hey! (Eastern bias at work again) The Sharks fans don't get nearly enough credit around the league. They're some of the most educated, respectful, hardcore hockey fans in the Western Conference, and I think all Stars fans would be proud to face off against them for a hard-fought playoff round. We're both fans that aren't afraid to give credit where credit is do (Recchi's 500th in Dallas, Modano's record setters in San Jose), or boo a guy when he deserves it. I know I'd be happy to shake hands with a Sharks fan at the end of a series, no matter what the outcome.

Colorado fans on the other hand (as a whole, I have seen a few good ones) I would be just a willing to drop the gloves with.

Go SHARKS! (and Caps!)
