we didn't start the fire...

Not sure why I am up this early on a Sunday - I had the alarm set for 8:30, but woke up at about 4:45 and wasn't able to get back to sleep.

So I give you this

Other stuff going on... ummm, went to the winter christmas-y type party last weekend at Jay and KT's. Had a good time. My friends rule.

Tuesday went and saw Tori at the Dodge theater. While it was good, I've seen her perform better. It was also strange that she had accompaniment. Before the show Dot and I met up with my first girlfriend after I got out of the army (94-95ish) and her boyfriend. We had a rather uninspired dinner at my big fat anal sex restaurant but the conversation was fun and it wasn't nearly as awkward as the time Diane, Andi, Brittany and Alesha were all in the same kitchen and someone went "huh!"

Official diagnosis after x-rays and MRI for my right shoulder is adhesive capsulitis - or "frozen shoulder." So nothing is ripped or torn, so exercise and stretching are not only allowed, but encouraged to make it go away faster. Still huts like hell though! (A note about jewelry and mri - the person on the phone the day before said "remove all of your piercings before you come in." So I got all but my tongue removed, and when I got there asked for some gloves so I could get a good grip on it. The tech says "why? we're doing an mri on your shoulder - there should be a mild tugging at worst." Well there wasn't shit, and I had to go to HTC to get them to reinstall my nipple piercings - which ripped through pretty harshly and now I get to start healing them all over.)

Speaking of pain - two weeks ago Friday got the boys snipped - and if anyone says it hurts, call them a pussy. It is uncomfortable, sure, but not *that* bad. Looks worse than it feels for about 10 days, but the pain is similar to having been kicked in the balls the day prior.

While at HTC in Tempe on Monday I asked about getting my PA upgraded to a Dolphin. The guy in the shop said he had never done one, but to come back Wednesday or Thursday to talk to someone who had more experience. I couldn't make it either of those days, so went in after work on Friday and spoke with Dana. He's a pretty nice guy who sat down and answered my questions and I decided right then that I'd go ahead with it. The determining factor was whether he could bend some jewelry to fit, or if I would have to order it custom.

After checking depth and sizing, I asked to go with 8ga. After destroying two 8ga circular barbells and breaking all of the 1/4" balls in the store, we ended up piercing at 10ga. The guy I had talked to Monday asked if he could sit in to watch - not a problem, I;m not shy. So all the prep was done, jewelry was made, receiving tube selected and site cleaned (new hole to be placed 1 1/8" below the orginal PA hole). The receiving tube insertion was a bit irritating, but not bad. The part that hurt there was him turning and having to push fromt he outside to make sure it was in the right place - kind of pinched. Then he grabbed the 11ga needle and had me start with 3 deep focusing breaths - I had to watch - because I flinch if I don't. The needle slid in no problem, and was less of a discomfort than the positioning of the receiving tube! A bit of blood dripped out the end of my urethra, but not as much as I expected.

The hole made, Dana then used the taper to go from the 11ga needle to the 10ga jewelry, the hope being there would be less bleeding. The taper went through just fine and since there wasn't further bleeding we just padded with gauze and that was that.

I got home and removed the gauze to pee and it looked pretty gnarly and there was a fair amount of blood. After urinating i just wadded the toilet paper up and went on my way. We went to see Doug Stanhope at the Sets afterwards, and when I went to the restroom I removed the wadding, which was again, only a little bloody, then found that after I had urinated, the blood would not stop. it just kept bleeding drip... drip... drip. Having read up on this on BME I basically cut off circulation for 3 or 4 minutes and cleaned up - by then everything had coagulated and I could move around again without worrying about bleeding all over my pants.

Sleeping was fine that night. The next morning I got up late and showered, then washed with the anti-microbial soap. Fresh flow of blood. With everything wet I went ahead and checked the sizing and placement. The length of the jewelry is fine, but my urethra sits rather low (towards the bottom surface) so the height of the jewelry makes the balls not fit snuggly. After it heals I'll order a long 8ga curved barbell to limit the exposed shaft of the jewelry.

Here it is, the second morning after and there is quite a bit of bruising, and also some tenderness, but no more than the PA, and definitely less than the ampalang. If there are any complications, I'll be sure to post a followup!
