LOVE THY NEIGHBOR

Our church has an early morning worship service called "Worship First." It's intended to be a dynamic, energetic service that is supposed to be for people who aren't really into the more "conventional" worship service. What we used to call "Big Church." Up until about 6 months ago, I was one of the leaders of that service--playing my guitar and helping to lead the congregation in singing songs (contemporary Christian stuff mainly, but also some U2 and other stuff). It used to be a great sustaining experience that I looked forward to every sunday. But then, our pastor who started the service (and who also happened to be very popular) left and all of the sudden other people just jumped in and tried to take over. Long story short, they turned what was a great and worshipful sunday morning into a colossal cluster fuck. We argued and bickered and things quickly went downhill. Then I stopped going altogether.

I recently started going again and, no surprise here, it still sucks. It's too bad too because our new pastor is GREAT and she really wants the service to thrive. It would be great except for the clashing of personalities... The thing is that it's all mainly due to this one woman who has this habit of turning everything she is involved in into a HUGE mess. Basically, what she does is complain loudly and often that (insert church function here) is really suffering and that somebody needs to show some leadership and blah blah blah... Next thing you know, before you can turn around and say, "SLAP MY ASS, PRAISE THE LORD" she's taken over. Before long, she's pissed everyne off and they leave then she's the only one left standing. Needless to say, she and I don't get along at all and it's all mainly to do with the music.

I don't know, I am sort of over it in a lot of ways.
