Sadistic or Clueless

^ was the way I explained to my friend why his physics teacher was giving his class impossible problem sets

Today was a bike ride all the way down to Martin Luther King (which my house is convinced is part of every major city - something named after MLK; a building or something, a mountain?), a popped tire (it's happened so many times in fault-shifting Berkeley that it's nothing big at this point), and incredible Thai food at this church or temple.

How they've worked it out is pretty ingenious. The Sunday brunch is staffed by volunteers, food is donated, and students/public comes from all around Berkeley and Oakland to eat it. There's a "suggested donation" for every piece of food, and in order to get food, dollars must be traded in for Chuckie-Cheese-esque tokens. The customer ends up buying a lot more than she expects to because she doesn't think of her medium of transaction as holding the same value as a spiffy $10. And the donation is totally not suggested, but it gets the temple around calling the brunch a business, and keeps the exchange taxless. Wooot.
